The Spring 2001 Forum focused on the influences of Southern culture on African American responses to domestic violence. By convening plenary and affinity groups comprising scholars, academicians, practitioners, policymakers, and additional advocates, IDVAAC created a vehicle for sparking ideas, engendering discourse, and replicating practices germane to eradicating family and community violence in the African American community. The conference delves into the intensely private realm of family and faith with the intention of exposing myths and confirming truths about the pervasive influence of family and faith on behaviors, traditions, beliefs, and perceptions.
